Hi, I'm Anna! Owner and maker of The House of Fairies, a luxurious, scented candle brand based in Cyprus. I started THF in the summer of 2022, driven by my passion for creating beautiful and unique handmade candles. As a child, I always loved to combine my mother's lotions, perfumes, and lipsticks in the bathroom, creating my own magical potions. Years went by, but the little girl inside of me still craved creativity. I decided to break free from my 9 to 5 job, as it no longer resonated with my inner child. I wanted to find something that would engage my mind and hands, providing solace from anxiety. Inspired by videos of other candle-makers, I embarked on the journey of candle-making. What started as a fun and relaxing hobby quickly became my true passion. I eagerly delved into researching candle techniques, fragrance testing, and experimenting with wax. Being an engineer, I realized that making a candle is akin to building a perfect machine. It involves meticulous calculations of wax, fragrance percentages, and color proportions, as well as precise temperature control and wick selection. Candle making is not just an art; it's a science! After perfecting my candle recipe, I set out to find extraordinary vessels that would complement my creations. Being someone who loves to stand out, I couldn't settle for the ordinary glass jars available in the market. Living on the enchanting island of Cyprus, with limited supplies and options, I embarked on another phase of research. That's when I discovered the concept of "eco-resin." As a passionate advocate for eco-friendly products, and having studied Environmental Management, I was immediately intrigued. I couldn't wait to get my hands on this remarkable material and start crafting my own vessels, each one imbued with unique colors and styles, while still being safe for the earth! I vividly recall the sheer happiness I felt when I demolded my first vessel. It was at that moment I realized that if I loved it so much, others would too. People often ask me how I found the courage to start my own business in uncertain times. The answer lies in overcoming my fears and stepping outside my comfort zone. The House of Fairies has breathed meaning into my life when I couldn't find my own shine, and through my candles, I aim to bring that radiance to others.
